The Syndicate Analyst will work in the New York Debt Capital Markets team within the US Investment Grade Debt Syndicate. The new hire will assist the team with daily responsibilities, including preparing analyses and pitches for client meetings, executing Debt transactions, and identifying funding opportunities across markets and currencies for different companies/sectors. Primary responsibilities include assisting senior team members in the coverage of their client base, engaging clients on current topics, executing debt transactions, pitch preparation and data management.  Candidate will support senior Syndicate managers with deal execution, data collection, P&L, risk management, reporting, and trade administration.  Will interact as required with DCM, sales and trading, compliance, legal and derivatives, back office professionals globally.

The Debt Capital Markets group markets, structures and executes fixed income related transactions on behalf of issuers. The US Investment Grade Debt Syndicate acts as the go-between the secondary market and the primary market, taking inputs from the investor base and translating that into recommendations for the HSBC’s global customers on the issuer side of the firm while formally executing primary new issuance for corporates, financial institutions, supranational, sovereigns both domestically as well as internationally.   The group works closely with Banking, leveraged finance, Derivatives, sale, trading and rates teams to recommend and execute transactions for the Bank’s clients across the credit spectrum. 

 

The employee will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Assist in the preparation of deal-related and non-deal related marketing material
  • Monitor US Treasury market activity and Economic releases on a daily basis
  • Understand the different documentation requirements across different issuance platforms and markets 
  • Write daily economic and treasury market update for distribution to clients and internal team members
  • Assist in the execution of live deals, including pricing, hedging, orderbooks, etc., in various currencies
  • Update transaction databases and league table spreadsheets
  • Work with Debt Finance centers globally regarding trends, transactions and local currency markets around the world
  • Interact and support inbound debt execution from key regions around the world funding into the USD market.
  • Assist in the preparation and writing of transaction reviews
  • Track profit for specific transactions 
  • Create and maintain transaction documentation and reporting
  • Work in conjunction with the Derivatives, DCM and LAF, Banking, Corporate and Financial teams, in the US and globally

  • Communication skills – Strong communication skills needed. Communicates what is relevant and important in a clear and concise manner, shares information and new ideas with others

  • Strong quantitative skills and an understanding of fixed income products
  • Strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Bloomberg skills would be viewed positively
  • Spanish as second language a plus but not required
  • FINRA series 63 and 79 licenses are required. Manager can allow a contingency period to obtain licenses at their discretion.
