Associate, Investment Banking Coverage - 0000FEMG
Description

!*!

As an Associate in Global Banking (GB), you’ll be a critical member of the team supporting our clients - traditional corporates, financial and public sector institutions, and financial sponsors (e.g. private equity and sovereign wealth funds).  You’ll help clients by providing investment banking (IB) solutions that support critical strategic events (e.g. an acquisition or an IPO) or raise funds from investors in the capital or loan markets (e.g. a bond issuance or equity raise).  You’ll be joining an established team supporting one of the following sectors: Capital Goods/Industrials, Chemicals, Consumer/Retail, Healthcare, Financial Sponsors Group, Technology, or M&A.

About Us

Our purpose – Opening up a world of opportunity – explains why we exist. We’re here to use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth and perspectives to open up new kinds of opportunity for our more than 40 million customers. We’re bringing together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world – for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities and the planet we all share.

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

Required Skills

Here’s what you can expect on a typical day:

  • Core banking skills.  You’ll be using your analytical skills and deep industry knowledge to help develop the client strategies across fixed income, equity and M&A. Your knowledge of investment banking processes and industry knowledge will be critical to giving clients the advice they value.  You’ve likely had IB, accounting, consulting or tax practice experience.
  • Communication skills:  Relationships are everything and you’ll use your professional and personal presence to deliver well-developed narratives to colleagues and clients – showing off your verbal, written and listening skills.  Your interest in (and aptitude for) originating new business from clients will become more important as you grow in the role.
  • Interpersonal skills:  You’ll show your ability to quickly pivot between individual contribution and team-work to help complete transactions in a timely manner. Your creativity, common sense and your initiative mean that you’ll make an immediate contribution to the team. Of course, you’re here to learn and grow as well, and so you’ll receive plenty of feedback to develop your existing skills and to accumulate new ones.  We value diversity of thought – your opinions and insights will be really important.
  • You’ll likely have your Series 7, 63, and 79 FINRA licenses already, but if not, we’ll provide training and support for you as you’ll need to obtain these licenses when you join.
  • As an HSBC employee, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. We work hard to ensure that our workplace is a diverse, inclusive and meritocratic environment and we have a strong commitment to sustainability.  Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) play a central part in life at HSBC, including the development of our employees and our connection to the communities and customers we serve. We value difference.  We succeed together.  We take responsibility.  We get it done.  And we want you to help us build the bank for the future!

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
