ABOUT THE ROLE

1. Responsible for delivery of rapid response analytics, i.e., the responsive and accurate delivery of information and analysis that the business requires to make data-driven decisions.
2. Proficient in delivering value by working with data, which includes the creation or capture of data, and the creation of new assets through the combination of new and existing data assets, specifically querying data from multiple sources and using ETL processes to transform and optimize data for analytics.
3. Proficient in providing an end-to-near-end Analytics service to departmental analysts and data users who may derive the last mile of business value from data, but also provides an end-to-end Analytics service to business functions without Analytics capacity, to senior management who require cross-functional data, and to cross-functional data initiatives.

4. Assist in development of effective business intelligence reporting and dashboard solutions. Provide standard professional advice and create initial reports/analyses for review by senior analyst or manager.
5. Assist in creation of new data assets with cross-functional value through the capture, creation, or combination of data; and ensure that these are appropriately catalogued and discoverable within OUP.
6. Produce ad-hoc reports and rapid-response analytics, ensuring that new information and analysis is provided to the business in a timely and accurate fashion. Apply a methodical approach to routine and moderately complex issue definition and resolution. Use previous experience to identify most appropriate option or improve existing approaches.
7. Design and develop moderately complex reports and analysis. Produce, test, and resolve issues with analytic workflows and validate data. Produce commentary if required. Create and deliver standard reports in accordance with stakeholder needs and conforming to agreed standards.
8. Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical and cross-functional project teams. Communicate fluently, orally and in writing, and present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences when engaging with colleagues and users/customers.
9. Contribute to recommendations of improvements by monitoring industry developments and technical innovations in reporting and analytics to ensure that OUPs business management, product development, customer relationship management, and publishing partner engagement are continuously enhanced.
10. Support the team in advocating, collaborating, and building community within OUP to transform the business culture to a data-literate, data-driven one.

ABOUT YOU
  • Professionally qualified. Educated to degree level in data science or a related numerate field, or experience in a BI/reporting/analytics role.
  • Strong consultancy, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, with excellent numerical, statistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate-level experience of data reporting and analytics including experience in SQL.
  • High IT literacy, specifically skills in relational databases, big data, visualization, modelling, and dashboard creation coupled and ability to assimilate and evaluate new systems/software packages.
  • Experience in using Tableau and/or Alteryx for reporting and analytics preferred.
