The Data Modeling Lead is accountable for managing the Catalogue & Definition functional group in the US Data and Architecture Office (DAO). This role will work closely with the Data Management Lead to ensure consistent implementation of data modeling processes, incl. data identification, prioritization, and documentation. The Data Modeling Lead will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of data models and metadata requirements.

Here’s what you can expect day-to-day:

As the Data Modeling Lead, you will represent the DAO in all matters related to Data Modeling.  The Data Modeling Lead will:

  • Work with DAO and other stakeholders to identify data, systems, and systems lineage (for a given context, “criticality assignment”)
  • Define and govern data modeling standards, tools, best practices, and related techniques (incl. Collibra etc.)
  •  Define metadata management requirements and ensure a consistent metadata management process is in place
  • Assist Data Management Lead in driving a consistent data management approach across the US
  • Monitor completeness and quality of critical metadata

  • 5 years of data modeling and metadata management experience
  • Experience with data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data platforms in multi-data-center contexts
  • Strong knowledge of metadata management, data modeling, and related tools (e.g. Collibra)
  • Experience with managing a technical team in an agile environment
  • Necessity to make robust/tough decisions that may be contrary to others’ wishes and ability to prioritize competing demands
  • A good knowledge a large global organization and its strategy, internal policies, and procedures is preferable
  • Proven ability to manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Strong leadership and management ability, developing and motivating employees over multiple sites
  • Able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines and be change-oriented
  • Strong problem-solving skills
