The Food Service Worker (Cafeteria Worker) will work under the direction of the Lead Supervisor with general supervision and follow prescribed steps after receiving instructions as how to do the work. Lead Supervisor observes the work to determine whether it is performed properly.

 

Primary Duties

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Refill cold bars, salad bars, pastry cabinets, condiments, juice dispensers, and set up dining rooms.
  • Replace glassware, dishes and silverware and refill condiment containers. Wipe and wash tables and counter-tops.
  • Clean work area, utensils and equipment; remove garbage; mop floors, walls, windows and tables.
  • Remove dirty dishes, glasses and silverware from serving counters. Mix washing solutions and operate electric dish washing machine and/or wash dishes, glassware, pots and pans and kitchen utensils by hand.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain in a sanitary condition equipment and work areas, utensils and tables.
  • During and after the meals, perform ware-washing, and keep pot and pan areas clean.
  • Follow correct techniques, cleaning schedules and tasks.
  • Participate in all other training required by funding source(s).

Requirements

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
  • One-year food-service related experience preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Neat, well-groomed appearance required.
