Stockton University invites dynamic, collaborative individuals to apply for our Director of Academic Assessment position. The Director will coordinate University-wide academic assessment programs, projects, and activities measuring educational effectiveness as part of a team within the Center for Teaching and Learning Design. The Director of Academic Assessment contributes to compliance with Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) standards and may assist with other University and/or program specialized accreditations in ways consistent with the University's mission and strategic plan.

  • Plans, organizes and coordinates University-wide strategic, comprehensive, and ongoing academic assessment programs, projects, and activities measuring student learning and achievement (educational effectiveness)
  • Works with programs to develop assessment plans to monitor progress towards program learning objectives and goals
  • Reviews coordinator reports and gives formative feedback to programs on assessment plans and progress
  • Works with Academic Affairs personnel to coordinate assessment data with the Essential Learning Outcomes, and other campus partners
  • Develops goals and organizational procedures to enhance operational effectiveness in alignment with the Center for Teaching and Learning Design
  • Coordinates academic assessment activities for compliance with Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) standards related to assessment and educational effectiveness and may assist with other University and/or program specialized accreditations
  • Supports advancement of academic assessment and improvement of student learning through effective outreach efforts including consultation, training, mentoring, and resource development
  • Leads and advises on the development, organization, analysis, use and reporting of student learning activities in a manner that supports planning and improvement initiatives
  • Advises and supports implementation of outcomes assessment reporting and programs for all academic programs aligned with the University's strategic plan
  • Collects and reviews program accreditation/review assessment data to assist programs/schools in implementing findings for consistent improvement and identification of opportunities to expand student learning opportunities
  • Working with Institutional Research, prepares assessment reports based on sound interpretation of data to summarize findings and report on the quality of institutional assessment efforts
  • Provides assessment information to University leadership to assist with institutional decision making and growth in alignment with the strategic plan. As directed, disseminates findings to appropriate stakeholders
  • Develops procedures to collect, store, manage and disseminate confidential and sensitive student or institutional assessment data in an appropriate manner

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in Higher Education to support Academic Assessment at the institutional, program or unit level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong academic publications, academic assessment or scholarship of teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with and gain cooperation of faculty from across the institution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in the methods of the scholarship of teaching
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues relating to federal and state reporting; accreditation requirements; current and innovative practices in the development and assessment of institutional effectiveness and student learning outcomes; current theory and practice in institutional research; the development of assessment tools and methods of measurement; research design; data warehousing, management information systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical tools for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of data
