Unit Description



Thank you for considering 2 Pines! 2 Pines is a 50 bed nursing unit that cares for adults with a wide spectrum of acute medical illnesses. Our areas of focus include cardiac telemetry, with an emphasis on a primary diagnosis of stroke and TIA. A nurse on 2 Pines can perform cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, drug therapy, peritoneal dialysis, parenteral and enteral nutrition.Two Pines is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that has everyone on the team always learning!

Our team is also committed to furthering their education with high participation in the Education Investment Program. The unit participates in numerous pilot programs aimed at improving the overall patient and employee experience. We have an ongoing commitment to provide evidence-based practice in our care and guiding our decision making. All of our RNs are NIH Stroke Scale certified as well as ACLS certified.

The unit is supported with a team that includes an Administrative Assistant, Team Leader, Mobility Team, and flex or resource nurse. 2 Pines has a Professional Practice Nurse, who oversees department-specific education and competencies. We also have a dedicated interdisciplinary team that meets daily to discuss patient progress and discharge status.



Position Description- 3 12-hour shifts a week with rotating weekends and holidays.



* Graduate of an accredited Practical Nurse school of nursing.
* Current BLS certification required
* The LPN will be expected to enroll in an RN program within 2 years of hire and attain RN licensure within 5 years of hire required.
* Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members; ability to be flexible, prioritize care, time management, critically think and use proper judgment in difficult situations required.



POSITION SUMMARY`
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs direct and indirect patient care functions under the direction of the RN.



This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service and excellent nursing care, participating in quality improvement initiatives and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. Under delegation of the RN, the LPN will assist in the delivery of quality care according to the individual needs of the patient, administer medications and treatments, and observe and record patient conditions and response to medications and treatments. The LPN will contribute to the overall quality metrics of their assigned unit.



QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nurse school of nursing.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current BLS required.
The LPN will be expected to enroll in an RN program within 2 years of hire and attain RN licensure within 5 years of hire required.
EXPERIENCE: Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members; ability to be flexible, prioritize care, time management, critically think and use proper judgment in difficult situations required.. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained appropriately and competency will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazard and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances and potential injury.
Reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching approximately 25% of a workday; visual and physical ability required to work at a computer terminal; standing and walking approximately 50% of a workday; lifting approximately 25-50 pounds frequently and or 50-100 with assistance occasionally; physical abilities required to push, pull or transport equipment and patients.
