Position SummaryRosalind Franklin University Health System is seeking to fill a full-time Medical Assistant position. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks at the Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics office in North Chicago and Libertyville. The Medical Assistant will provide information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the services and convey a positive image. The selected candidate may be assigned to specific medical specialty (e.g. podiatry) to help with patient care related to that specialty.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesFulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include:
- checking schedules and organizing patient flow
- accompanying patients to exam/procedure room
- assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, blood draws, preparing for exam, etc.
- collecting patient history
- performing screenings per provider guidelines
- assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures
- charting
- relaying instructions to patients/families
- answering calls and providing pertinent information
Fulfill clerical/administrative responsibilities as assigned which may include:
- sending/receiving patient medical records
- obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
- completing forms/requisitions as needed
- scheduling appointments
- verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics
- managing and charting to ensure information completed and filed appropriately
Fulfill environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include:
- setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol
- cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
- cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program
Required Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of medical assisting program
- One year medical assistant experience
- Maintain BLS certification
- Must achieve a background check clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years Medical Assistant experience
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record System
