Responsibilities

The Mission Thread Lead manages the integration of a major mission capability for a space/ground acquisition program, ensuring all segments and components are designed, developed, transitioned, and operated to deliver required mission capabilities. The Mission Thread Lead engages throughout the entire lifecycle from design to operations and disposal, including Operational Test and Evaluation (OT &E) activities to determine operational effectiveness, suitability, interoperability, and performance. Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead the architecting, design, and specification of all key components (parts of the system) using SysML Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs) and SysML Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs), compliant with OMG SysML vl.5 and Department of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF) v2.02.
- Lead the integration of developer space and ground architectures, capturing resultant products in an integrated digital model using standard and tailored digital engineering tools and methodologies.
- Develop requirements for inclusion in segment interface control documents (ICDs), Systems Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and requirements associated with a mission thread addressing all phases of mission execution.
- Planning, preparation, and conduct of require lifecycle milestone design reviews, including providing recommended entry and exit criteria, resolving action items and liens issued, and developing briefing materials.
- Engage operational and tactical mission users to understand and define external interfaces.
- Serve as the primary representative for the integration of a mission capability coordinating with all customer, developer, and program stakeholders.
- Provide technical support, and consultation supporting all mission thread-related system acquisitions.
- Lead the technical assessment assessing mission thread, system, and sub-system requirements, CONOPs, architecture, schedules, risks, and test and verification activities.
The Mission Thread Lead designs, develops, evaluates, and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.


Qualifications

- Requires 12 to 15 years with BS/BA or 10 to 13 years with MS/MA or 7 to 9 years with Ph.D.

- Bachelors in engineering required. Masters in engineering discipline desired
- 15 years experience in the engineering of advanced complex systems of systems, including space, ground and communications
- Superb oral and written communications skills and experience in the application of those skills in briefing and generating technical papers for Government customers
- Experience with DOORs requirements database management/repository.
- Experience with MBSE, SysML applications, digital tools, Confluence, and Jira.
- Experience with requirements closure, threat scenarios and analysis, and VV&T strategies that align to an agile development approach.
