HSBC’s wholesale banking business provides tailored financial solutions across both commercial and investment banking products to corporate and institutional clients worldwide, and operates across the Commercial Banking (“CMB”) and Global Banking & Markets (“GBM”) divisions.  Investment banking products (including mergers & acquisitions; debt, leveraged credit, equity and equity-linked capital markets; structured finance; and hedging) are housed within the GBM division.

 

Working closely with colleagues across both CMB and GBM, the US Mid-Corp Investment Banking (“MCIB”) team is responsible for originating cross-sell of investment banking products to HSBC’s Commercial Banking clients in the US, in order to help them achieve their strategic and financing objectives.

 

As a member of the US MCIB team, the Analyst helps identify product opportunities, carries out market & customer research, performs financial analysis and assists the senior staff in preparing for client meetings.  The role also includes supporting the collaboration agenda by providing reliable management information (“MI”) and targeting/segmentation analysis for MCIB and the wider bank.

 

Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Provide support to senior MCIB staff to enable them to optimize the potential value of client relationships, improve client engagement and deliver needs-based solutions and fair outcomes for clients
  • Enable proactive client management by attending client meetings with senior MCIB team members as appropriate and acting as a point of contact in their absence
  • Prepare appropriate analysis, proposals and presentations for existing and prospective clients
  • Support the senior MCIB staff on day-to-day activities including client targeting, pipeline management, coordination with product partners and ensuring data are updated in an accurate and timely manner
  • Collaborate effectively with others across a variety of groups both internally and outside the firm
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and perform to the highest standards, and promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand
  • Uphold the highest level of integrity and act as a role model for all HSBC values and business principles

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

  • Bachelors’ degree from a leading university and strong academic performance
  • Minimum 1 year of front office experience at a global bank preferred
  • Holds appropriate FINRA licenses (e.g. Series 63, 79, SIE) or expected to acquire licenses shortly after joining
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Superior communications, analytical and organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-starter with demonstrable common sense, business acumen and an interest in the mid-market corporate segment
  • Knowledge and experience in finance, accounting, financial modeling and valuation preferred
  • Understanding of the global financial and capital markets
  • High level of integrity and professional judgment
  • Commitment to a collaborative and team-based environment
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
