Job Summary
The postdoctoral researcher will the assist the PI and Co-PIs in development of process-property-performance relationships in targeted multi-material systems produced from solid-state high pressure cold spray deposition and additive manufacturing (AM). 

Tasks will include assisting in the development of novel sensor-based in-situ real-time process monitoring capabilities, analyzing data, CFD and FE model development, material and mechanical characterization of coatings and additively manufactured specimens, material performance analysis, training graduate students, and documenting the results in the form of research publications and presentations.  

Funding will be renewed yearly contingent upon performance for up to 5-years. ITAR conditions apply.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
  • Knowledge and/or experience with high pressure cold spray systems
  • Strong background in sensor-based process monitoring 
  • Significant experience in the development of CFD and FE process models
  • Experience with advanced AM methodologies (especially solid-state)
  • Experience with advanced material characterization techniques including XRD, TEM, SEM, FIB, nano-indentation, etc.
  • Experience with material performance and tribological characterization techniques (e.g., cyclical fatigue analysis and corrosion/wear resistance)
