Research associate position will be focused on the support of analytical assay work to screen stable vaccine formulation and develop formulation process to manufacture vaccine drug product in liquid or powder dosage form. The research assignments involve a variety of laboratory methods, equipment, and procedures. The position will report to the Scientist of the Product Development (PD) department in San Diego.
I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Design, execute and interpret experiments for analysis of in-process and finished formulations. Key examples include but are not limited to ELISA, BCA, PCR, TCID50.
Preparing reagents and formulation buffers.
Support formulation screening, stability studies and scale-up activities
Use professional concepts, company policies, and procedures (SOPs) to complete routine assignments by performing scientific functions in collaboration with others.
Make detailed observations, consistently analyze data and interpret results to make scientifically valid conclusions
Review data obtained for compliance to specifications and reports abnormalities
Troubleshoot and optimize development protocols when necessary
Document laboratory work consistent with company requirements and with a strong attention to detail.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with standard laboratory practice and safety procedures
Work productively with other team members as well as on independent assignments

III. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
Education: A minimum of a bachelors degree is required. BS degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmaceutical development, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 0-2 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry is required.
Skills: Strong benchtop laboratory skills, record-keeping (laboratory notebook), proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.
Abilities:
Ability to execute and interpret experiments with reliability, reproducibility, and attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures, established molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (such as ELISA, BCA, PCR, SDS-PAGE), instruments and equipment.
Good understanding of Universal Precautions and Basic Lab Safety.
Able to learn new skills in a reliable and time-efficient manner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively collaborate with team members
Strong trouble shooting and data analysis skills
Highly self-motivated, with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Experience with aseptic techniques, maintenance of mammalian cell lines and cell-based assay is a plus
