Requires lifting, pushing & pulling of objects up to 50 pounds. Repetitive motion due to sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time.

Job Summary

The Research Information Services office is looking for a Research Customer Support Specialist I. The Research Customer Support Specialist is fundamental in making sure the day to day operations of all research administration units are not interrupted by providing a reliable computing environment with rapid response to any problems. This position will provide both hardware and software support to units reporting to the Vice President for Research. This includes setting up new PCs, printer & peripherals, replacing defective parts, installing & upgrading applications and desktop software, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, advising and training users, and addressing routine problems. The Research Customer Support Specialist will also provide system and departmental support for purchased and custom applications, and on-call support work with other campus IT departments. The competitive candidate will have excellent phone, customer service & communication skills and will be able to remain composed under pressure. The ability to multi-task, retain & transfer knowledge is imperative. This position is expected to be dependable, flexible and to be able to work in both a team environment and independently.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of Microsoft OS, Apple and Office software applications; ITIL v.3 or 2011 Foundation highly preferred within 1 year of hire date; CompTia A+ highly preferred within 1 year of hire date.

Preferred Education/Experience

Three (3) years of experience in either a call center, customer service, Information Technology, or a related field highly preferred.
