**Job Description Summary**

As a Senior Engineer in Component Heat Transfer, you lead individuals and teams to deliver the aero-thermal design of components and systems for energy and propulsion systems, which includes design and development of cooling solutions, the application of multiphysics computational tools to components and systems, and the design and execution of component and subsystem aero-thermal tests.

At GE Research, we See, Move, and Create the future of flight and energy systems. The Component Heat Transfer team develops innovative cooling solutions for aerospace and energy systems.



**Essential Responsibilities**



In this role, you will be responsible for:



+ Shaping the analysis, design, and test of innovative cooling technologies for turbomachinery and electrical machines in aerospace and energy applications.

+ Leading multidisciplinary teams of GE product engineers, GE Research team members, and external partners to invent and mature the next generation of cooling and thermal technologies.

+ Deploying your extensive experience in modeling, simulation, and/or experimentation to characterize and validate novel cooling technologies for components and systems.

+ Providing technical guidance through effective coaching/mentoring.

+ Owning the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps and demonstrating accountability for a pipeline of funded projects.

+ Leading the development and writing of internal and external proposals.

+ Leveraging and growing an external network of collaborators in academia, government, and industry.

+ Patenting your inventions and develop a record of publication via conferences and peer reviewed journals.



**Required Qualifications**



+ Doctorate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience OR Masters degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years professional experience.

+ Experience solving complex cooling and/or thermal management problems for aerospace and/or energy components and systems.

+ Experience leading multidisciplinary teams to mature complex engineering systems from concept thru validation.

+ Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.

+ Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

+ Must be 18 years or older.

**Desired Characteristics**



+ 10+ years of work experience in an industrial or laboratory setting.

+ Direct knowledge of space power and propulsions applications, or high-speed flight vehicles.

+ Experience with gas turbine and/or electrical machine cooling design and validation.

+ Experience developing technical ideas with external customers and a track record of converting ideas to programs.

+ Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence **.**
