Pay Transparency Nondiscrimination Provision

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• B. S. degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Security, or Information Technology or equivalent applied experience.
• Must have at least 3 years of solid working experience as Linux system administrator for both servers and end user devices with specific focus on Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu distributions
• At least 1 year experience with Linux scripting Python is preferred, Unix shell script is required
• Additional working experience with Microsoft Windows (desktop and server), network configuration, firewall configuration, system maintenance, and security compliance
• Have good understanding of networking concepts (DNS,DHCP,SSL,VPN,TCP/IP)
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting in a multi-user, high availability environment
• Experience in maintaining inventory and tracking IT assets
• Working experience in computer repair (desktop and server), troubleshooting, configuration, deployment, and liquidation
• Ability to troubleshoot and analyze a problem independently
• Self-motivated to solve complex problems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work successfully with limited supervision
• Must be able to obtain DoD TS clearance within one year of employment

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

• Experience with system architecture and system design modeling tools
• Working experience with containers (docker) and virtualization (Xen, VMware, VirtualBox), orchestration technologies (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) are highly desirable
• Have exposure to STIG, vulnerability scan and SCAP tools
• Active DoD clearance

Responsibilities

Perspecta Labs in Silver Spring, MD is looking for a full-time System Administrator to support day-to-day Information Technology (IT) operations for Perspecta Labs. The position includes configuration and management of all IT assets as well supporting users with IT needs. The candidate will be part of a small team of system and network engineers performing system administrative functions for the maintenance, testing, upgrading, and troubleshooting of Perspecta Labs' IT infrastructure. This IT infrastructure consists of devices running Linux and Microsoft Windows, switches, routers, firewall, audio/video conferencing equipment, VoIP phones and other special purpose equipment.

In addition, the candidate will be trained to serve as Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for multiple classified systems and be responsible for managing the risk of classified assets and working with ISSM to implement security standards and maintain the security posture.

The position requires on-site work in the Silver Spring, Maryland location with occasional travel to Belcamp, Maryland office.

Responsibilities of this postion include, but are not limited to:

• Manage IT Server Rooms, keep physical server room space organized and safe; perform monthly system patch outside of the normal business hours
• Respond to user requests for IT support promptly
• Ensure network and computer infrastructure remain available during production hours
• Improve data backup solutions, perform regular data backup
• Identify root-causes of operational issues and process inefficiencies
• Prepare reports and documentation
• Install hardware and software as requested
• Monitor security logs for violations and anomalous events; report information security concerns and problems when necessary
• Continuously maintain a thorough understanding of all configurations, architecture, installed software, accounts (both Operating System and Application), data flows, ports, protocols, and other relevant data for each IT Systems
